After reading this, I may start nosing about my family tree-you seem to know a lot about your generations past!
This dish does have all the makings of a delicious meal. The sauce looks so rich in flavor in that picture. I really enjoyed this post Tori-thanks for the peek into you personal history as well as a wonderful recipe!

I love this recipe. It just looks so hearty and inviting. I've never tried apple bread pudding, but if it's good enough for Lincoln it's perfect for me!

Hi Roberta - I've never tried this in the crock pot, but I can imagine it would work great. The way I would do it is to keep the cooking process the same through the browning of the meat, then transfer all ingredients to the crock pot, cover with water, and leave it to cook on low for 8-10 hours. Check the liquid halfway through cooking, if possible, to make sure it's not becoming dry. You could also throw some big chunks of potatoes in there to make it a one pot meal (you would need more liquid for that, and some extra seasoning with salt and pepper, since the potatoes will absorb a lot of that flavorful liquid). Good luck!

Hi Tori,

Your site content is really interesting. That original recipe for potato baji sure sounded oily as ever. It almost sounded like Aloo (potato in Hindi) Makallah (means to Fry in Arabic). Are you familiar with this dish?
