Strawberry Basil Martini

I don’t know about you, but on my end it’s been a crazy, crazy week. My inbox is crammed with no end in sight. It’s all good stuff, I can’t complain; in fact, I’m thrilled to be so busy doing the things I love to do. Even so, I’m ready for Shabbat and the weekend… ready to take a deep breath and unplug for a few hours. I plan to kick it all off with this refreshing Strawberry Basil Cocktail.

Last week, I shared an easy method for making homemade strawberry simple syrup. Here, I’ve combined the syrup with basil-infused vodka (to learn how to make infused vodka, click here). The combination of sweet, ripe strawberries and crisp, peppery basil works surprisingly well together. You can use bottled strawberry syrup if you prefer, but with all of those beautiful berries at the market, why not make your own? Add a splash of fresh lime juice, an aromatic sprig of fresh basil, and voila! You’ve got a sophisticated spring cocktail, the perfect drink to kick off your weekend. Shabbat Shalom, l’chaim!

Note: Every cocktail recipe featured on my site can be made kosher using kosher-certified liquor and bottled beverages. I’ve only used liquors and ingredients that can be easily obtained with a kosher hechsher. For kosher-certified alcohol choices, check out the links below:

  1. Shabbat shalom! We are having our temple service outside tonight, with a picnic before, and I am making your crunchy sweet broccoli craisin salad. I´m excited to see how it turns out!

Delish. I will try. Every year my BFF and I hit the tennis tourney in Indian Wells, CA. Our first stop is Tommy Bahamas on El Paseo. First order of business… Pink Grapefruit Basil Martini. This looks just as good!
