This week on The Shiksa in the Kitchen, I’ll be focusing on one of my very favorite food subjects…

BRINNER!
Meaning Breakfast for Dinner, of course.
My family loves having breakfast for dinner. We do it a couple of times a month because it’s fun, easy, and lighter than a big heavy dinner meal. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite brinner recipes before we head into our Passover holiday planning. I’ll be sharing some brand new brinner recipes, as well as favorite dishes from the archives.
To celebrate Brinner Week, I’m holding a fun breakfast-themed giveaway! Comment on this post and let me know what your favorite brinner dish is. Share the link on Facebook for an additional entry, and Tweet it for another entry by clicking the share buttons at the end of this post– that means you can enter up to three times! You will be subscribed to my website newsletter with free recipes, fun food history posts, and Shiksa in the Kitchen news. You will also be automatically entered to win this gorgeous Waring Pro Double Belgian Waffle Maker!

This waffle maker is a real beauty. It cooks 2 large Belgian waffles at a time so you can quickly feed a hungry crowd. It’s a quality waffle iron (retail value $99.95) that produces gorgeous, golden waffles that are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect for making brinner!
Here is a quick breakdown of the rules again– you only need to enter once, but you can enter up to three times by following these steps:
- Comment below and let me know what your favorite brinner dish is. This will count as your first official entry, and you don’t have to do anything more if you don’t want to. You will be subscribed to my website newsletter with free recipes and Shiksa in the Kitchen news. Be sure to use a valid email address so I can contact you if you win!
- You can also share this post on Facebook by clicking the Facebook button below– this will give you another entry in the contest. Let me know you shared in your comment so I can count the extra entry.

The contest ends at the end of Brinner Week at 3:00pm Pacific Time on Friday. The winner will chosen via a computerized randomizer, and will be announced here on Monday March 19; they will also be notified via email. The prize will be shipped via standard shipping the following week. Good luck!

Thank you to all who entered!

I really love ANY breakfast food for dinner, though french toast (with challah) casserole is the real winner! I also retweeted this.
I love an omelet for dinner. But with this waffle maker in my kitchen, I would definitely have to change that to pumpkin waffles!
Posted on Facebook!
It’s a toss up between French Toast, made by my son, Waffles, made by my husband! Taught my son to make french toast and we use french vanilla coffee creamer in the egg mix! It is pretty divinely delicious! =)
Scrambled eggs and ketchup!
When I was growing up, my mom would make pancakes and scrambled eggs for dinner once in awhile. To me, it was a HUGE treat! When I got married, I tried to do the same thing, only to find out my husband won’t eat breakfast for dinner. When he is out of town, I have breakfast for dinner as often as I can!
I love brinner!!!!! Pancakes and sausage is a winner with my family.
Waffles are always a hit but we also love biscuits and sausage gravy.

My favorite brinner dish is smoked salmon fritatta and home fries!
Pancakes, eggs, and grits! Yummm!!
Nothing better than bacon and eggs!
Bagels with cream cheese and scrambled eggs!
Egg and cheese sandwiches are sooooo delicious for ALL THREE meals but a nice quick dinner eaten with my fingers and the cat usually gets a bite of egg too– feeds the WHOLE family! Add some turkey bacon for some extra protein but they are perfect just as is!
It’s hard to choose a favorite, but this one is up there – two slices of French toast, made from either Challah or some variety of crusty bread, with a thick slice of melted mozzarella in between.
Sometimes we make omlettes to use up leftovers in the fridge. Other times we’ll make sausage or bacon burritos with egg, meat and cheese. Special times – it’s chocolate chip pancakes for the kids and cinnamon pecan pancakes for the hubby and me.
Sausage, biscuits and scrambled eggs!
Scrambled egg english muffins! Toast an english muffin, butter and fill with scrambled eggs, topped with 2 slices of bacon and a piece of american deli cheese. Certainly not the healthiest of brinner options, but definitely the tastiest!
Challah french toast!!! Introduced it to my “shiksa boyfriend” and now that is the only French toast he will eat too
Shared in facebook too
I love omelets, buttered bread and bacon!
challah french toast with veggie breakfast sausage links and lots of maple syrup, yum!
and I tweeted, as @violarulz
One of my favorite “Brinner” meals is roast beef hash. Make the hash following the recipe I give in the blog post whose URL is above. It’s at http://www.stayatstovedad.com. Scroll through the archives to the post of Jan. 7, 2011 entitled “Cooking Dinner for Julia Child.” Using the recipe will give you a big skillet of delicious roast beef hash. Now toast half a large Thomas’ or Wolferman’s English muffin. Move the hash out of the center of the skillet and put the toasted muffin in the center. Top the muffin with two poached eggs. Top the eggs with hollandaise sauce. Stick the skillet under the broiler for about 1 minute just to heat everything a bit more. Serve by putting the skilled on a trivet in the center of the table. Dig in and enjoy.
I love French Toast and scrambled eggs for dinner. Yum!
breakfast burritos! yummy!!
Belgian waffles with bananas, strawberries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup! YUMMY!!!
Hoppel Poppel is always a hit at our house for a backwards day. Beat up some eggs and pour atop fried chopped onions, potatoes and kosher salami. Scramble Serve with ketchup of course and a poppy seed bagel. ( If you don’t keep kosher you could schmeer the bagel with cream cheese) My earlier entry disappeared… but I twittered and fb’ed it too. Looking forward to following your blog.
A yummy omelette filled with grilled onions, lox and cream cheese — with a nice hot cup of decaf, and a toasted poppy seed bagel on the side, thank you very much!
a waffle, topped with 4 slices of applewood smoked bacon and 3 over easy eggs…all covered in pure maple syrup…heaven for dinner!!!
We do a full breakfast for dinner – Scrambled eggs or omelets, soy sausages, hash browns, toast. As we get closer to passover, I pull out the pancake mix, too!
Frogs in the pond also known as Toad in the pond.
My husbands family is Chilean and we eat a dish that his mother invented called ” Cacero de Loro” meaning “Parrot Casserole”.
We eat it with yummy crusty bread!
The taste and look is not exactly the same but still is strangely similar to that of Shakshuka…
My family loves blueberry pancakes for breakfast or dinner! We also love waffles.
I WOULD have said Grape Nuts with home canned peaches, roasted almonds and raisins, but readiing these comments there are so many others I will try!!!
Several times when I was going up on the farm my mother would cook scrambled eggs and toast for supper.
Eggs Benedict
