This week on The Shiksa in the Kitchen, I’ll be focusing on one of my very favorite food subjects…

BRINNER!
Meaning Breakfast for Dinner, of course.
My family loves having breakfast for dinner. We do it a couple of times a month because it’s fun, easy, and lighter than a big heavy dinner meal. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite brinner recipes before we head into our Passover holiday planning. I’ll be sharing some brand new brinner recipes, as well as favorite dishes from the archives.
To celebrate Brinner Week, I’m holding a fun breakfast-themed giveaway! Comment on this post and let me know what your favorite brinner dish is. Share the link on Facebook for an additional entry, and Tweet it for another entry by clicking the share buttons at the end of this post– that means you can enter up to three times! You will be subscribed to my website newsletter with free recipes, fun food history posts, and Shiksa in the Kitchen news. You will also be automatically entered to win this gorgeous Waring Pro Double Belgian Waffle Maker!

This waffle maker is a real beauty. It cooks 2 large Belgian waffles at a time so you can quickly feed a hungry crowd. It’s a quality waffle iron (retail value $99.95) that produces gorgeous, golden waffles that are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect for making brinner!
Here is a quick breakdown of the rules again– you only need to enter once, but you can enter up to three times by following these steps:

Waffles with peanut butter and Nutella
Our favorite brinner dish? waffles — of course!! With eight children, you’d better believe we had waffles a lot! Actually, I inherited my mother’s WWII era BHG cookbook, and the recipe for cornflake waffles clearly states that waffles make a great and economical supper — that’s what we called it in the old days. I also inherited her Sunbeam waffle baker, and you can imagine that it is on its last legs (I’m 60 and mom is baking waffles in heaven). Sure would love a new one, so I am sharing!
MY Favorite “brinner”: Vegetable and potato frittata topped with parmesan cheese.
Perfect with a dry Riesling!
My KIDS favorite brinner: pumpkin waffles with extra butter and syrup.
Favorite brinner food is matzo brei, bit waffles would be good too. Will share this great idea on Facebook too, Tori.
Blintzes (potato/onion) with butter and sour cream….oh, and BACON!
bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast
My fav brinner would be eggs, hashbrowns, bacon or sausage, grits & toast with jelly
Of course if I had this beauty of a waffle maker, I would have yummy waffles with bacon or sausage
YUM~
I shared on facebook
I love breakfast any time of day. Red Velvet Waffles, crispy bacon, fresh orange juice with coffee fills the bill.
I looooove eggs and bacon! Tweeted as well!
Our fave brinner is fried chicken and waffles! The kids love this dish and think wrapping up the fried chicken breasts in the waffles is fun.
Just what we had tonight: waffles with choice of add-ins before closing the lid: bananas and walnuts or shards of turkey ham and swiss.

Our favorite brinner is my homemade spinach, mushroom, onion and emmenthaler quiche wrapped in a flaky crust.
my family loves breakfast for dinner. Love to make unique waffles and pancakes all the time playing with ingredients I have in the kitchen cabinets or fridge. Anything from tropical mango and coconut to mixtures with corm meal and cranberries…my family will then give me a thumbs up to let me know if a new recipe is a family keeper..
I love brinner! It was always a special treat when Mom made brinner – eggs, fried corn mush, sliced tomatoes – yummmmm!
Pancakes and bacon!
Would LOVE to win this! My favorite ‘brinner’ would probably be something with eggs.. Usually eggs with tomato and baby spinach, and lots and lots of freshly ground black pepper.
My husband and I also love the traditional ‘Turkish breakfast’ of boiled eggs, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, white (feta-ish) cheese, bread, tea, etc.
Shared on my FB wall, too! <3
Any kind of waffle sandwich, but I guess an “official” brinner would be an egg and cheese waffle sandwich. YUMMY!
We usually do eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls or french toast. Sometimes pancakes or biscuits. We would love to do waffles but we need a waffle iron!
For dinner I really enjoy and omelet with tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese, although I must say a waffle with strawberries makes a fantastic dessert.
Scrambled eggs with co-jack cheese and toast made from homemade bread.
Waffles because I dont like many other foods, much love. Praying for a winning e mail.
Steak, eggs, and fried potatoes. My mom would also make this sometimes for brinner when we were little.
Our favorite is homemade corned beef hash, homefries and ‘dippy’ (over easy) eggs. Takes a bit of pre-planning to prep the corned beef but it’s so worth it! I also make mashed potato waffles with chili on top.
Our favorite brinner is peanut butter pancakes, sausage, bacon and home fries.
Also shared on my Facebook wall!
We love eggs for dinner, and have it often!
Waffles with strawberries and real whip cream!
French toast with mascarpone and strawberries — sooo decadent (and soooo easy, which makes mom very happy )!
Matzobrei with maple syrup, now that’s brinner, and it’s even kosher!
Blueberry multigrain pancakes with bacon!
We mix it up to keep Brinner fresh. Sometimes pancakes, Sometimes waffles, sometimes french toast, whatever we’re in the mood for at the time. Always with a side of juice and/or fresh fruit.
also on my wall, and retweeted:)
I love to have birdsnests (thick cuts of bread with the middle cut out and an egg fried in the middle) with a little sriracha sauce, some bacon and coffee! Yum!
I tweeted and shared on my facebook page. Did it after I made the post
